ID: better-colors.
What it does
Reads the existing color system and distinguishes base values from semantic tokens: names tied to color usage. Builds only the necessary scales and checks hues, themes, gamut and state meanings. Measures text color against the background on which it actually appears. Reports insufficient contrast with its value and threshold; changing the palette requires that the change be within the assignment.
When to use it
Use it to create a palette, clarify tokens used for different purposes, fix a theme or verify text/background pairs. It suits problems with the color system, rather than personal hue preferences.
How to use it
Ask for it by name, or invoke it with /better-colors in Claude Code or $better-colors in Codex. Provide tokens, surfaces, themes and brand constraints. Specify whether you want a check or changes as well. Request measured pairs, token roles and checks in both light and dark themes; avoid contrast values estimated by eye.
What it delivers
- Color pairs and measured contrast
- Map of roles and tokens
- Proposal or authorized changes with a new measurement
Example
Measure the contrast of secondary text and the primary button in both themes; identify failing tokens and propose a correction without applying it.
