ID: copy-editing.

What it does

Reviews text through seven distinct checks: clarity, voice, usefulness to the reader, evidence, specificity, emotional tone and barriers to action. Looks for unsupported promises, vague benefits and passages that make it hard to understand what to do. Proposes corrections with reasons and verifies that a style improvement does not change meaning or create a new promise.

When to use it

Use it when a draft landing page, product page or commercial message already exists and you want to make it more precise. Use copywriting to write from scratch; use better-writing for labels and operational interface messages.

How to use it

Ask for it by name, or invoke it with /copy-editing in Claude Code or $copy-editing in Codex. Provide the draft, audience, expected action and available evidence. State any specific concerns. Request editorial changes with reasons, preserving the agreed voice and promises; separate wording corrections from positioning changes.

What it delivers

  • Edited copy or proposed changes
  • Reasons for corrections
  • Promises and information requiring a source

Example

Review the export feature page for clarity and specificity: use only benefits supported by the product and keep the current CTA.
