ID: research.
What it does
Assigns research to a background agent, which traces claims to the responsible source: official documentation, code, specifications or the vendor’s API. Collects results in a single Markdown file, with a source for every claim. Saves the file where the repository already keeps research notes and reports its path.
When to use it
Use it when you need to read documentation, gather API facts or investigate a topic without stopping the main work. It is documentary research: it does not produce user observations unless they are provided as sources.
How to use it
Ask for it by name, or invoke it with /research in Claude Code or $research in Codex. Frame a bounded question, specify known sources and where to save the result. Request citations directly to primary sources and explicit limitations. In JADO, delegation must be assigned and counted in the route budget.
What it delivers
- Markdown dossier with claims and sources
- File path in the repository
- Limitations and information still unsupported
Example
Check the official documentation for how the API handles pagination and errors. Save a Markdown note in the research folder with sources and limitations.
Prerequisites
- Requires the ability to delegate research in the background; an adaptation without delegation must be declared and authorized in the JADO contract.
