What it does
In an already configured repository, creates and registers component or page variants outside production imports. Distinguishes Explore, which prepares the comparison, from Promote, which transfers a selected variant into the normal product tree. Verifies that every variant is reachable in the preview; promotion removes experimental wrappers and fixtures and follows the product’s ordinary checks.
When to use it
Use it only when VariantHub is requested to compare alternatives in code. In Explore, evidence sufficient to assess the design question is enough, without starting the full production cycle. Promote begins after explicit selection of a variant.
How to use it
Ask for it by name, or invoke it with /varianthub in Claude Code or $varianthub in Codex. Provide the component or page, comparison question, alternatives, states and viewports. Specify Explore or Promote. Read the local integration and request a preview of every variant; if infrastructure is missing, separate its setup from design work.
What it delivers
- Registered variants and reachable preview

Example
In VariantHub Explore, prepare two filter alternatives: a side panel and a bar above the table. Compare them in the same states without promoting either to production.
